Fulfillment fees rise during the holiday peak window, but the increase is unchanged from last year, averaging $0.32 per unit over off-peak rates. Monthly storage rises much more sharply, from $0.87 to $2.40 per cubic foot for standard-size units in October through December.
Andrew Erickson is the founder of Inventory Hero. He has spent years working with Amazon FBA sellers on demand forecasting, restock planning, and the cash flow side of running a private-label brand. Inventory Hero exists because every spreadsheet-based inventory system he tried eventually broke — usually right before Q4.
Standard-size monthly storage is $2.40 per cubic foot from October through December, up from $0.87 the rest of the year. Oversize is $1.40 in Q4, up from $0.56. That is close to a 3x increase, charged monthly on whatever volume is sitting in fulfillment centers.
When do Amazon holiday peak fulfillment fees start in 2026?
October 15, 2026, running through January 14, 2027. They apply to FBA, Remote Fulfillment with FBA, Multi-Channel Fulfillment, and Buy with Prime. Storage runs on a separate calendar, with the elevated rate covering October through December.
Is Amazon's 3.5% fuel surcharge a Q4 charge?
No. It took effect on April 17, 2026 for FBA and applies to fulfillment fees year-round, with no published end date. It is not incremental to Q4. Its only peak-season effect is that 3.5% of a slightly larger fulfillment fee is a slightly larger amount.
What are the Q4 2026 Amazon inventory deadlines?
For Prime Big Deal Days, shipments must arrive by September 2 for AWD, September 9 for minimal shipment splits, or September 16 for Amazon-optimized splits. For Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the dates are October 14, October 21, and October 28.
Here is the thing most Q4 fee coverage will get wrong: Amazon's 2026 holiday peak fulfillment fees are the same as last year. The per-unit increase over off-peak still averages $0.32, eligibility is unchanged, and the actual news in Amazon's announcement is that inventory deadlines moved earlier.1 So the Q4 amazon fba fees question is not "what went up," it is "what does the peak calendar cost me per unit, and on which SKUs."
The honest answer: on a small, fast-moving unit, very little. On bulky stock that sits, quite a lot.
Fulfillment carries a holiday peak rate from October 15, 2026 through January 14, 2027, averaging $0.32 more per unit than off-peak.1 Note it runs two weeks past New Year, so January replenishment and returns still price at peak.
Storage rises October through December, from $0.87 to $2.40 per cubic foot for standard-size and $0.56 to $1.40 for oversize.3

The $0.32 is an average across size tiers, not a per-SKU fact. Amazon did not publish per-tier peak deltas, so any worked example using it (including the ones below) is using a stand-in.
Rather than one anecdote, here is the arithmetic you can run on any SKU:
Peak cost per unit = tier adder + (3.5% x tier adder) + (cubic feet x peak storage delta x months held)
Where the peak storage delta is $1.53 for standard-size and $0.84 for oversize. Only the adder gets the surcharge treatment, because the 3.5% already applies to the base fee off-peak.
Everything below is that formula with numbers in it.
Take an illustrative large-standard unit at 1 lb billing weight. Billing weight is the greater of actual weight and dimensional weight, so to stay in the 1 lb band the item has to be at or under 139 cubic inches, about 0.08 cubic feet. Say it sells within a month, priced at $29.99 with a $6.00 landed cost and a 15% referral fee.4 The off-peak fulfillment fee for that tier in the $10 to $50 price band is $4.60.5

That is more than ten times the small-SKU case, and almost all of it is storage. This is the actual Q4 fee story: the fulfillment adder is close to flat per unit, while storage scales with cubic feet and with months held, which are the two things you control.
Bulky slow movers, by a wide margin. Storage nearly triples per cubic foot and is charged monthly on whatever is sitting there. Run real per-cubic-foot costs through the FBA storage fee calculator rather than estimating.
Thin-margin SKUs. The fulfillment adder is roughly fixed per unit, so it takes a far larger share of a $2 gross profit than a $14 one. At $2, that $0.33 is a sixth of your margin before storage.
Anything you over-ordered. Units that do not clear by December keep paying peak storage into January and then face aged inventory surcharges in Q1. Over-buying is penalized twice.

Each step is exactly one week. Choosing minimal shipment splits over Amazon-optimized costs you a week of runway, and routing through AWD costs another week beyond that. If you are near your lead-time limit, split preference is a scheduling decision, not just a cost one.
Rebuild the per-SKU numbers with cubic feet and months held, not a catalog average. The average hides exactly the bulky, slow SKUs that carry almost all the cost.
Decide pricing before October. Moving a price in September is routine. Moving it on November 20 lands mid-peak and interacts badly with your deal reference price.
Clear slow bulky stock in September. At $1.53 per cubic foot per month extra, it is usually cheaper to discount it out than to store it through December. See excess inventory for the clearance math, Amazon's 2026 storage rates for full detail, and the 2026 FBA fee breakdown for the whole rate card. For sizing the Q4 order itself, see our Q4 forecasting guide.
Q4 Amazon FBA fees in 2026 are not a rate increase, they are a calendar. Peak fulfillment is unchanged year over year at about $0.32 per unit, the 3.5% surcharge has applied year-round since April, and storage is the charge that actually moves, tripling on standard-size units from October through December. That makes Q4 cost roughly $0.45 on a small fast unit and several dollars on bulky stock that sits. Run the formula per SKU, then decide what you are willing to hold through peak.
